Do you live in the Memphis area and write poetry? Take a poetry workshop!
Workshop will be led by Katie Riegel, author of 3 books of poetry and a former college professor with over 20 years of teaching experience. This is for beginning to intermediate adult poets (18 and up). Perhaps you took a creative writing class in high school or college, or you like to read poetry, or you’ve been secretly writing for years and are finally ready to share your work with someone. This is a workshop that will be encouraging, supportive, and inspiring. You will not have your work “ripped to shreds” by your teacher or classmates; instead, we will discuss what’s working in the poem, look at the strategies used, talk about what the poem is trying to say and do, and ask questions–and then, perhaps, move on to suggestions if we have any. Our discussions will focus on the goals of learning more about poetry, sharing poetry prompts that’ll get you writing, and fostering a community of writers.
